5 Podcasts You Need to be Listening to
Podcasts are the new creative venture that everyone's dying to get into, from your mates to even celebrities now recording and producing their own shows for others to listen to. From comedy shows to true crime and horror, there’s a genre for everyone. For me, I need a good podcast when the day starts to get a bit repetitive and I need something to keep me from dozing ! Whether you’re like me and need something to jump start your brain during the day, you want to find out more about the world or you’re in need of advice, I’ve got quite the collection for you:
The Read
listen if you're interested in: pop culture, politics, black issues, mental health
The perfect blend of humour, politics, throwing shade and educating their readers, The Read is a weekly podcast by bloggers Kid Fury and Crissle. They cover a range of subjects like hiphop/pop culture and mental health and also have a segment, Listener Letters, where they answer the often crazy dilemmas of their listeners. The show ranges from around an hour to two hours long so perfect for the midday lull at work, there's no way you won't be woken up by Crissle's amazing laugh and Kid Fury's vocals.

Girl Boss Radio with Sophia Amoruso
listen if you like: career advice, inspirational, motivational episodes
Still a new listener to this but would definitely recommend for those who need that extra bit of inspiration at work, whether you're trying to get into the job you want or if you're already there but need an extra push to get to the next stage, this is for you! The show is hosted by the CEO and founder of Girl Boss, Sophia Amoruso and Neha Gandhi, editor-in-chief. Every week, they invite women who are trailblazers in their field to discuss topics like how they built a successful career, growing a business and navigating their personal lives.

Black Gals Livin'
listen if you like: pop culture, random discussions, mental health
Another gem I've discovered recently, the show is described as "two black girls chatting about mental health, pop culture and random shenanigans", which is exactly what it does. It was started in 2018 by Jas, and Vic, a freelance writer and editor and the best thing about the show is it is literally listening to all the chats you would have with your friends, only they mention the things you might not be brave enough to! With so many subjects spoken about, there's no way you won't hear anything relatable to you.

The Receipts
listen if you're interested in: strong women, dilemmas, pop culture, relationships
The Receipts Podcast is run by my favourite trio. Tolly, Milena and Audrey where they discuss every thing but past relationships, dating, music etc. They also get some amazing guests on their show like Regina King, Broderick Hunter and Maya Jama and they always manage to stay unfiltered, getting all the juicy stories. They joke around a lot but are able to tackle issues like abortion, cheating etc with sincerity, especially when it comes to their listener's dilemmas. But if you're still unsure on whether this show is for you, make sure you give the clip above a listen

The Adzvice Podcast
listen if you like: pop culture, career/business advice
Last but definitely not least, Adzvice is hosted by Ade and Bonita, two London millennials debating and unpacking topics that they believe are not spoken about enough. Their most recently episodes include debates on gaslighting, cohabiting with partners and the laws of attraction. Not only are the conversations hilarious, they're not afraid to get serious about their own lives, personal experiences and their jobs. Prepare for hard hitting but relatable topics and career advice.
